What Is a Water- and Moisture-Resistant Building Board?
Cement- and fibre-based building boards are used where standard gypsum board is not made for lasting contact with water: facade cladding, semi-open areas such as pergolas and balconies, wet rooms, and partitions in damp areas. The board is screwed to a supporting frame; joints, edges and water-stop details are solved separately.
The Products We Have Used
- BoardeX® — orange-faced exterior board. We used it on facade cladding and a pergola.
- Knauf GUARDEx® — blue-faced board. We used it on a partition wall.
Each product's field of use and its limits follow the manufacturer's own technical document. We do not publish performance figures we have not verified.
Where It Is Used
